EMDR Therapy
reprocessing memories of trauma
For over two decades, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, or EMDR, has been an empirically validated and effective therapy for trauma. Numerous positive, controlled research studies have shown EMDR to be more effective in treating trauma and resultant anxiety and depression symptoms than cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Through dual-attention stimulation, EMDR accesses memory and information that is stored with original thoughts, feelings, and sensations, allowing them to be reprocessed to a more adaptive resolution… and feel and function better.
I am an EMDR-trained psychotherapist who assists my clients to reprocess memories tied to bad images, sensations, thoughts and emotions. Memories are reformed but without the debilitating fears, sadness, and anxieties they held before. This in turn frees clients to live happier lives, perform better in their occupations, and improve personal relationships.
