Relationship Building
counseling for couples, families, or team members
My training as a marriage and family therapist is based on a holistic, systemic view of human behavior. Changing “the system” requires thorough assessment, clear treatment objectives and a client’s willingness to try new strategies.
When couples therapy works, there are some common factors. Both partners are committed to it and want their relationship to get better. Then they are willing to try new approaches, their “dance” changes, and they grow more emotionally connected. My role is to facilitate these healing conversations.
Families have different structural and emotional dynamics than couples. They can face challenges and stressors like unforeseen financial security, sudden medical or mental illnesses — even the death of a parent, parental separation, or divorce. I particularly enjoy working with families facing challenges like ADHD, anxiety, autism, substance abuse, and depression.
Teams often spend so much time practicing their athletic game that the relational portion of competing together can go by the wayside. When conflicts arise between team members or coaching staff, I can help work through the growth process with them.
